Tagged Tundra Swan. San Luis National Wildlife Refuge. About once a year out on the refuges I run into a tagged bird. This is my first tundra swan, with neck tag u986. It's been reported to the bird tagging laboratory that acts as a clearing house for researchers. This is one way those of us wandering out in the wild can help science, because most of the tag reports scientists get back are from dead birds when they're hunted or found.
